Competitive Program

Our Competitive Program provides students the tools and opportunity to take their dance training to the next level. Dancers will set higher goals and meet higher expectations in a fast paced learning environment, coupled with a variety of performance opportunities. 

PREREQUISITES:

• Age seven as of January 2025 to seventeen years old. 
• At least two years of dance experience in the genre you would like to compete in. Genre Options: Acro, Ballet, Breaking, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Jazz, Lyrical, Song & Dance, Tap and Variety
• Currently dances at least two hours a week.
• Consistent high attendance rate for all class enrolments. 
• Demonstrates attention to detail, applies corrections quickly and full participation in all classes.
• Practices skills and choreography outside of the classroom.
  
  

COMMITMENTS:

• Attend auditions May 7th-9th. See page 6 for specific dates and times.
• Available August 6th-September 1st of 2024 to learn choreography. All group choreography is completed between August 6th-September 1st of 2024. ACRO choreography is confirmed for August 6th-11th, all other genre choreography dates will be released after placements in May. Some competitive choreography sessions might be pushed to weekends in September once school starts. Solos, duos, and trios may be scheduled throughout June, July, August, and September, based on dancer and choreographer availability. Specific choreography dates and times will be released by June 1st, 2024.
• Available for all weekend rehearsals, including rehearsals scheduled on stat holidays if unavoidable. The September-December schedule is released by the end of August. January-April rehearsal schedule is released by December 1st. Dancers should not miss these rehearsals for any reason. 
• Competitive dancers are not to miss classes and rehearsals four weeks prior to scheduled events. Specific event dates will be released in September. 
• If your child misses a rehearsal four, three, two or one week(s) prior to an event, they may be asked to sit out the performance(s) listed below for safety reasons.
• Missing more than three rehearsals or classes (per genre: Ballet, Jazz Tech, Acro Tech, etc.) may result in dismissal from our competitive program.
• Available for all five competition events. Dates/events change every year. Competitions take place throughout February, March, April and May.
• 2-10 training hours (classes) per week. Amount of hours depends on how many genres you apply and are accepted for.   
• Submit application to join our 2024/25 team by May 1st, 2024.

STEPS TO JOIN OUR TEAM:

• Read through our Competitive Program Handbook. 
• Reach out if you have any questions.
• Fill out our Competitive Team Application. Applications are due May 1st. 
• Book a meeting with our Director. Booking and attending a meeting is required for new competitive families and optional for returning competitive families.  
• Attend the audition that coordinates with the genre your child would like to compete in. Auditions are May 7th-9th. See page 8 in our Competitive Program Handbook for audition dates and times.
• Wait patiently for placements which will be released by May 23rd.
