We are committed to creating a safe and healthy learning environment for our entire dance family. Using the recommended safety measures from Vancouver Coastal Health and WorkSafe BC, we have created a COVID-19 Plan for our dance home. Please review our COVID-19 Plan that is followed by all teachers, students, parents and other persons inside our facility.
SIGNANGE
We have signage outside and inside pertaining to wearing masks, sanitizing hands and giving 6ft of space. We also have floor markers to assist with social distancing. Our COVID plan is posted in all classrooms and common areas. Hand washing instructions is posted in all of our washrooms.
SELF SCREENING: STUDENTS & OTHER PERSONS
All dancers and any other person entering our facility must perform a self health screening prior to arrival. If a dancer or anyone in the dancer's household has any COVID-19 symptoms (fever, cough, chills, shortness of breath, sore throat and painful swallowing, stuffy or runny nose, loss of sense of smell, headache, muscle aches, fatigue, loss of appetite) the dancer must stay home. If a dancer becomes unwell during class, they will be removed from the class and a parent will be called immediately. If you have a cough or a fever, you must stay home until you are symptom-free for 3 days. Any person showing symptoms inside our facility will be asked to leave and go home. We have four temperature thermometers which will be used if necessary. Please see below for our protocol is a teacher or student test positive.

Daily teacher screenings will be done with a checklist and temperature thermometer. If a teacher is showing symptoms of COVID-19, they will be required to take a COVID test and stay home until results are released. LOBBY CLOSED
Our front desk will be closed to reduce traffic and congregation. No parents will be allowed inside our facility unless necessary. Parents of dancers ages five and younger are welcome inside to support their child, but must wear a mask and maintain social distancing at all all times. Dancers will wait outside until their teacher or front desk personal opens the door for them to enter. If for any reason a parent/guardian needs to enter our facility, they must wear a mask, maintain social distancing at all times and vacate as soon as it is no longer necessary for them to be inside the facility.
WATER BOTTLES
Please have water bottles filled prior to arrival. Our washroom taps are not to be used for refills. We have bottled water available at the front desk for purchase at a low cost. DO NOT SHARE WATER BOTTLES.
FOOD
If you are having a snack between classes, please be sure to eat outside or in your vehicle. If weather does not permit to eat outside, please place yourself in an isolated area that you can keep at least six feet distance from others. Please also wash your eating area immediately before and after your snack.
ARRIVAL
Please enter our dance home no more than five minutes prior to class start time. Dancers who arrive earlier than five minutes before their class start time will wait outside while the previous class is dismissed. Teachers or administration staff will initiate dancers when it’s time to enter. Please have dance cloths on before entering the studio. Dancers are welcome to use our cubbies for their jackets, shoes, bags, etc.
DISMISSAL
Students will exit our dance home as soon as their class has finished (unless they have another class afterwards). Please be early or on time for pick up. All dancers will wait outside for a parent/guardian to pick them up.
DANCERS WITH BREAKS BETWEEN CLASSES
Dancers are welcome as usual to stay on site when they have a break between two or more classes. If your child has more than one class a night, they should be prepared to follow our new studio guidelines, as well as have something to keep themselves quietly occupied with; book, homework, colouring, etc.
WASH/SANITIZE
Please wash or sanitize your hands upon entering and exiting our dance home. There are multiple hand sanitizer stations throughout our facility, including outside before entering our facility.
MASKS
Please wear a mask provided by yourself in all common areas: entrance, lounges, washrooms, etc. Dancers ages five (5) and older are to wear a mask during class at all times. Dancers ages four (4) and under may place their mask on their wall hook provided by SDC upon entering the classroom and go directly to their student square. All teachers will wear a mask at all times. Our administration team will wear a mask at all times. Parents and other persons in our dance home will also wear a masks at all times.
SOCIAL DISTANCING
Please be mindful of your spacial awareness at all times, keeping 2 meters distance from others. We have markers on the floor where possible in our entrances and lounge floors. Our lounge furniture has also been marked with where it’s safe to sit. Teachers will be practicing hands free instruction, unless necessary. Teachers and administration staff will continue to remind dancers to give space to those around them.
STUDENT SQUARES
We have one student square per dancer in all of our classrooms. Our student squares are 6ftx6ft with at least 1ft between each square. This is approximately 7-8ft distance during class. Dancers will stay in their student squares for the entirety of class.

Studio C - 6 dancers (4 for Aerial Hoop)

ACRO & AERIAL CLASSES
Due to the nature of this genre’s physicality and safety precautions, there will be times when teachers will need to be hands on to spot students for injury prevention. When this occurs, teachers will sanitize their hands between every student. All mats will be marked and spaced appropriately. All Aerial classes will have one hoop per student. There will be no partner or group training until further notice.
WAITING AREA SEATING
You are welcome to use our seating and tables which are available in our downstairs and upstairs waiting areas. One family per couch. One person per chair. Our lounge seating has signage to help remind you. Please be mindful of your spacial awareness. Seating and tables will be cleaned as frequently as possible, please use at your own discretion.
EXTRA CLEANING
Our administration team and teachers will clean/disinfect high touch surfaces and lounge furniture as frequently as possible. We have 15min breaks between every class to accommodate cleaning time. All props and equipment used will be cleaned between every class. We have invested in two Cobalt Foggers which will be used on areas/equipment which are not easy to clean by hand: carpeted acro mats, aerial hoops, couches, cubbies, etc. Teachers will preset up disinfected equipment.
WASHROOMS
Only one person per washroom. Parents are welcome inside the washroom to help their child. Our washrooms will be cleaned as frequently as possible. Washrooms are cleaned between every class.
AIR QUALITY
All doors will be open during classes while weather permits. We have also invested in air purifiers for all four classrooms and our two waiting areas. Teachers will play music as low as possible to minimize the need to raise their voices.
IF A POSITIVE CASE WAS TO OCCUR WITHIN OUR DANCE FAMILY
If a student or staff has been tested positive for COVID-19, we will close our entire facility for 14 days. All classes will continue as usual (same day, time, teacher) online by Zoom. No refunds or credits will be given for any length of time we close due to COVID-19. Our programs will continue to run online.
NOT FOLLOWING STUDIO PROCEDURES
If a student, parent or staff member is not respecting our studio procedures, we will kindly ask the person/s to remove themselves from our dance home and return when they are ready to cooperate. If a student, parent or staff member consistently disrespects our studio procedures, they will permanently be removed from our programs.
FUTURE CHANGES
As things change provincially, we will continue to adapt our studio procedures. If any changes are to occur at anytime, we will inform you immediately by email and our private parent Facebook group.
